Are non-alcoholic wines a healthier alternative?

At Zero Wines, our vision is to create an inclusive community. We aim to unite fitness enthusiasts, health-conscious wine lovers, pregnant women and religious groups who are commonly excluded from wine drinking culture. We have great news – you can still enjoy the taste of wine without the negative effects!

If you’re interested in the health benefits associated with non-alcoholic wines, we’re giving you the facts:

1. Non-alcoholic wines contain powerful antioxidants

It’s often said that wine is healthy, but we urge our customers to keep in mind that regular alcohol consumption is associated with a range of health disorders. These include coronary heart diseases and cancer. Why then is it commonly accepted that red wine is healthy?

This is thanks to the health benefits of antioxidants called polyphenols found in grapes. These powerful antioxidants have anti-ageing properties and help to combat cancerous diseases, inflammation, and neurodegenerative illnesses. However, this is not to say that daily consumption of conventional wine is beneficial to our health. Recent studies show that the real virtuous properties of wine are found in grapes.

2. Non-alcoholic wines reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease

Polyphenols found in non-alcoholic wine are known to reduce plaque build-up in arteries and lower the risk of coronary heart disease. Antioxidant-rich grapes also help to lower blood pressure.

While both non-alcoholic and alcoholic wines contain equal amounts of polyphenols, research suggests that the alcohol in red wine could be hindering the cardiovascular benefits of polyphenols found in grapes. Non-alcoholic wines are therefore a healthier alternative which allow us to benefit from the virtuous properties of polyphenols without the adverse effects of alcohol.

3. Non-alcoholic wines contain fewer calories

Alcohol-free wine is the ideal alternative for those worried about weight gain as they are lower in kilojoules. Now you don’t have to choose between skipping dessert or having that extra glass of wine! We still suggest that you check the nutritional information before purchasing a case of non-alcoholic wine as some contain more sugar than others.
